Position Overview:
The Head of Legal & Compliance for a Two-Wheeler NBFC Fintech Firm will lead the legal and compliance function, ensuring the organization operates within the legal framework and complies with all regulatory requirements. This role demands strategic leadership, in-depth knowledge of financial regulations, and the ability to mitigate risks while supporting the firm’s growth in the fintech sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Advisory: Provide strategic legal advice to the management team on business decisions, contracts, and regulatory implications.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including RBI guidelines, company law, and other applicable statutes.
- Risk Management: Identify potential legal and regulatory risks, develop mitigation strategies, and implement robust compliance programs.
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to safeguard the company’s interests.
- Regulatory Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring timely filings, audits, and responses to notices.
- Policy Development: Establish and maintain internal policies to promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
- Litigation Management: Oversee and manage legal disputes, litigation, and arbitration, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing legal and compliance team, fostering collaboration and efficiency.
- Training & Awareness: Conduct training sessions for employees to ensure understanding of legal and compliance requirements.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Develop monitoring frameworks and prepare regular reports for senior management on compliance status and legal risks.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) is mandatory; a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) or MBA in Legal/Compliance will be an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of RBI regulations, financial compliance standards, and corporate laws.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage complex legal issues.
